Surrogacy - In Celebrity News
Many people immediately think of celebrities when they think of surrogacy. Of course, we all know that’s not the only group of people who use surrogacy to grow their family—it’s just who we hear about because, well, everyone seems to care about their lives. So…while we know and we generally work with the non-celebrity type, we still think it’s fun to check into the celebrity world to see who is making the news for surrogacy. We are pretty familiar with the really famous celebrities who have use surrogates and have written about them before—Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Neil Patrick Harris, Andy Cohen, Tyra Banks and Gabrielle Union and Dwayne Wade…the list goes on. But there are other, perhaps less known, celebs in the news lately surrounding surrogacy, and we wanted to bring you up to speed. Here’s our round up of recent news about surrogacy in the celeb world.
No, not using a surrogate and maybe not even an actress you may have heard of, but a very important piece of news, regardless. Krisit Sanon is an actress who is rumored to be teaming up with her “Luka Chuppi” director, Laman Utekar and producer Dinesh Vijan for a film on surrogacy. The film is currently being written, slated to be released in 2020 and is said to be titled, “Mamma Mia” (yeah, not the same one as here). Kudos for touching this “touchy subject” as the article stated. <eye roll>
Are politicians celebrities? Eh…maybe. At any rate, Democratic 2020 candidate, Pete Buttigieg, AKA “Mayor Pete,” and his husband are planning to have a child soon via surrogacy. This, of course, has brought up a huge debate as apparently everyone feels the needs to weigh in on one’s choice of growing their family, especially when you’re gay. We personally love the prospect of surrogacy being brought to the White House. More power to you, Mayor Pete.
Emmerdale Surrogacy Scandal
The UK has a soap opera called Emmerdale, and there is a hot storyline in it about surrogacy. There has been a major development in that surrogacy storyline on the episode that aired this week. Robert and Aaron meet a surrogate potential, Natalie, in a surrogacy group. But…Natalie is worried when she learns of Aaron’s criminal plans. Will she not want to be their surrogate now? Dun, dun, dun. Find out more here.
